Hello,

I've been trying to use this guide and get through the Practicing the Start section, but I can't achieve the goal of researching Republic by 2200BC. Could you provide detailed step-by-step instructions on how to accomplish this?

I don't think it's possible either. The article makes it sound like it's routine to be able to get republic by 2100. After trying at least 10-15 times with an open server the best I got was beginning to research republic at about 1950 BC. I've tried many times since then always tweaking my strategy, but even getting the 7-8 cities up that you are supposed to have by 2100 BC is nearly impossible. Doing that while still maintianing a decent amount of research just isn't happening. Maybe this is done on some kind of setting other than the default?
