Talk:Autosettlers
From Freeciv
The human who activates autosettlers is willing to sacrifice some performance, so long as (s)he sees steady achievement by the autoesettler.
Some humans would like options for which improvements they do when automated. Don't like autosettlers building rails, I'd rather make rails myself with the rail connect command.
Also terrain transformation, you usually build on a mountain / forest + river for defense reasons.
And I'm shuddering at even the thought of them making fortresses.

Unm, never entered something to a wiki, hope i dont break anything. First, i think the workers work much better than the engineers. I could bite my keyboard when i see an engineer build a forrest from grassland, it would be much better to transform to hills and build a mine. This is one of the biggest problems of the auto-settler, i hate it, when they ruin my cities by building forrests.
Also the engineer should try to transform things like desert, swamp and tundra to grassland or hills. After all, a good city only has hills and grasslands around it, but even with infinite time the autosettlers wont reach this goal.
Edit: I looked at the code, and i found the problem: The settler evalute the goodness of what they do now, and since forrest has 1 food, 2 prodution while hill has 1 food 0 production without mine, it thinks forrest is better. Maybe we should rise the goodness of hills...
