  • 19th Nov 2011Freeciv 2.3.1 is a new bugfix release in the 2.3 series.
  • 8th Aug 2011 – After nearly two years of development, Freeciv 2.3.0 is released. NEWS-2.3.0 describes what's changed since 2.2.x.
    (The previous stable release, 2.2.7, is still available from the Download page.)
  • 2nd Aug 2011The second release candidate of Freeciv 2.3.0 has been released. It fixes a small number of issues in the previous RC. Please try it; this will become the final release of 2.3.0 unless a showstopper bug is reported.
  • 17th Jul 2011The first release candidate of Freeciv 2.3.0 has been released. It fixes a variety of stability issues in the previous beta. Please try it; this will become the final release of 2.3.0 unless a showstopper bug is reported.

  • 19th Dec 2011 – Version 2.0 of Chess, the minimalistic monochrome tileset by Xin Yu (a.k.a. Anyu), has been released. Download it today! ~Daniel Markstedt
  • 18th Nov 2011 – A new Longturn Freeciv (one turn per day) server is open for players to sign in. The game runs on Freeciv 2.3, and the player maximum has been extended to 126 players. Usually we play with 20-30 players ~Marduk
  • 23rd Aug 2011 – The BBC Alba clip has been uploaded for public viewing on the BBC Alba Facebook page.
  • 19th Aug 2011 – The Scots Gaelic localisation of Freeciv 2.3.0 was today featured on BBC Alba's TV news programme An Là. See this page for detailed instructions on playing Freeciv in Gaelic.
