Freeciv features a Metaserver, a place where Freeciv servers can publish their presence. Freeciv clients consult the Metaserver to offer users a selection of games to join.

• Freeciv 2.0 and later use the Metaserver at http://meta.freeciv.org/metaserver.phtml by default.
  • Freeciv 2.1.9 defined the default metaserver as http://www.cazfi.net/freeciv/metaserver/. That is now same metaserver as http://meta.freeciv.org/metaserver.phtml and later versions define metaserver as http://meta.freeciv.org/metaserver.phtml
• Older versions of Freeciv up to and including 1.14.x used an older Metaserver here (no longer working).

If you'd like to see different RSS reports, please let us know at the developer's mailing list. If the Metaserver listing in your Freeciv client is always empty, perhaps you need to set your HTTP proxy for the Freeciv client.

Another way to join and hold games starting with version 2.1 is the GGZ Gaming Zone (if your version of Freeciv was built with GGZ support).
