Forum:Template for pages that should be updated

Since there are so many localizations of the wiki that are very infrequently updated, I'd like to have a template to put on pages that contains outdated information. It would serve two functions:
- to warn casual visitors that they might be getting outdated info and redirect them to the English language version of the page and
- to encourage speakers of the language to update the page.
I'll create a draft English language version, but the final template should also be localized into all wiki languages. --Hima 05:05, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- Good. But two problems noticed on the German version:
- If the English page name is different, the template may not create a link - http://de.freeciv.wikia.com/wiki/Vorlage:Update - "Diese Seite ist nicht mehr auf dem neuesten Stand. Bitte hilf mit, sie zu verbessern. Verwende bis dahin bitte die [[:en:{{{1}}}|englische Seite]]."
- I don't understand the problem? That link simply points to the template. When in use, the English page is given as in for example on the German main page: "{{update|Main Page}}". --Hima 12:39, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
- If the English page name is the same (apparently including the automatic translation of namespace names - though why does that not help the above example?), the template creates a link that may be in deep red or purple and practically invisible against the black background - http://de.freeciv.wikia.com/wiki/Hauptseite - but clickable for readers who guess that it's a link

- I agree that this white text on black background is far from ideal from a usability point of view. Please help me create a better attention template for the Freeciv wikis! --Hima 12:39, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
