Forum:Need ports for 1.14.0+

hi. there are like 10+ of us oldtimers that keep playing 1.14.* version of freeciv (read: we are smallpox players). for many months now there are no pubserver' pors available so we've been playing on a game.polesye.net port until recently when one of our players who has affinity for setting disaster options, set endyear to -4000 and then timeout to -1. Needless to say, we cannot use the port anymore b/c we can't join it and we don't know whom to contact in order to reset the port.

is there any hope that you guys can either set up some port or to fix the above problem? Thx.

Hi there. I'm afraid all Pubserver services are permanently down, for 1.14 as well as all other versions. The server went belly-up and the maintainer became too busy in Real Life to repair/replace it. Someone has volunteer to install and host all Pubserver software and scripts for us if you want it back online! There are talks to scrap the entire Pubserver/Metaserver concept and move the Freeciv online gaming service to GGZ Gaming Zone, which would be an issue for you old-timers since you'd have to code GGZ support for 1.14 then. --Hima 03:30, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
