I started running freeciv in Mac OS 10.5.6 on a Mac Pro, seems to be working fine. No sound, but my keyboard wont do anything. I can run the game just fine using mouse controls and the menus, but the game doesn't respond to the keyboard. Is this a known bug or a setting in Leopard?

Having the same problem here. 2.1.9 Compiled from source, MacOS X 10.5.7, GTK 2.14.7/GLib 2.18.4 (both installed from Fink). The mouse works fine, but the keyboard doesn't work at all, even in the server menu before the game starts.

My issue seems to be a bit different, but I'll log it here as well since I'm also running Leopard (10.5.7). In my case it seems as though the keyboard is mapped incorrectly. At first I didn't know what was going on, none of the keyboard shortcuts seemed to do what they were supposed to. Then I brought up the Save As dialog and noticed the characters I was typing were echoed back incorrectly. For example, typing "1234567" echoes back as "ertyiu[". Any idea how this could be fixed?

Solved my own problem. After a bit of research, I believe Leopard 10.5.7 update messed up an X11 keyboard file. The solution was simply to rename this file. Do the following from a terminal window on your machine and all is well...

sudo /usr/X11/share/X11/xkb /usr/X11/share/X11/xkb.broken
