Despite having other things I should have been doing here at home, I downloaded the Windows version of Freeciv 2.0.9 on Tuesday night. Since then I've spent more than 24 hours playing it.

Its developers deserve warmest congratulations. The most professional-looking "amateur" production I've seen in a long time.

Good to hear that! I believe Freeciv appeals in particular to old Civ players like you. It has very much the same just one more turn quality as the original. :) --Hima 05:01, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

An apparent newcomer has added a link to a site that seems to collect fans of various games. Its latest news item starts like this:

Advert Contest!
Freeciv is slowly dieing... We need to advertise it so we can get more people to be convinced to play it.

So thats why we need YOUR help to make the Advert!
